Isulong SEOPH Episode 4: A Flood Of Visitors With Viral Video

Welcome to this episode of the on Viral Video Marketing in InMyEar.com

Quite a few people have tried videoblogging because it is something cool and will probably bring in more visitors. To bring in a flood of visitors, however, you'll need to produce a viral video.

A viral video is usually a humorous scene that other bloggers or web site owners will want to share with their visitors. To make it effective, the code needed to display the video on any site should be easy to copy and paste. Check out the example below:

To make the above video appear on your site, simply copy/paste the following code into your own web site:
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GJqBx1mlEF0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="345" height="290"></embed>

It is considered humorous, because we have a talking photo, and the voice used is an attempt to copy the voice of the person in the photo. In addition, the code needed to display the video is clearly indicated under the video, which makes it easier for others to post the same thing on their sites.

And that's why it is called viral video. There is that component (humor plus code) which makes it easy to spread all over the internet.

You're not limited to humor, though. You can also make shocking videos or present scenes that make people say: "Whoa! Wait till I tell my friends about this!" There is, however, the strong possibility of offending others so it's up to you to choose between the extremes of tasteless and silly videos.

Assuming you have a hilariously viral video, you can hasten the process by targeting the influential people online. Some bloggers, for example, have an audience of thirty. Others, have over a thousand readers. If the more popular blogger displays your video on their site, you'll get more visitors in record time.

You can target the popular bloggers by directly getting in touch with them, but this can be a risky move if they perceive your email or comment as spam. You can also try including that person in your video, whether it is by mentioning their name or by promoting their web site. Just use your better judgment.

If you're concerned about your video's meteoric rise to popularity and the resulting high bandwidth charges (video takes up a lot of bandwidth as compared to text or even audio podcasts), you can always host your video is services such as YouTube or Google Video.

So, your video is talked about and spread around by, as Seth Godin refers to them, the "Sneezers" or better-known bloggers. It is stored in YouTube where it can be seen by YouTube fans. How exactly does that bring more people to your site?

In your video, as shown in the example above, show your web site's URL or address. Hopefully, people will type that in their browsers and visit your site. Just make sure your video is cute or funny enough, and that your site gives something of value to your new visitors.

Your quest for higher web site traffic doesn't end there, though. Not everyone simply goes to search engines, or iTunes or YouTube. Some people hang around social bookmarking sites online.
